When you are picking out an outfit to wear, what comes first the shoes or the actual clothes?
Court: I like to pick the clothes first, because I feel like the clothes are the hardest thing to match. I like to see how the colors coordinate with my jeans. The shoes come last because I like to find within the shoes a color that matches the shirt. It doesn't have to be the whole shoe but at least a little color that is the same as the shirt. When you get dressed for the day, what is the mood like? Do you have music playing in order to really establish what the day is going to be like for you and what you're wearing?
Court: I don't play any music or anything, i have an idea of what I'm wearing the next day. I usually get my fit together the night before. What do you currently have in rotation as far as song or albums at the moment?
Court: Of course "Views". "Twenty 88", "Untitled Unmastered", "Rodeo" and "From the Westside With Love".Who is your favorite entertainer when it comes to dressing and why?
Court: Definitely Big Sean. I love his whole style when it comes to rocking the Carharrt brand because that is a Detroit brand, even though I'm from Flint.
I also like Jerry Lorenzo (Fear of God clothing), his whole style when it comes to layering, although i haven't got the layering thing down-packed yet.
The obvious Pharrell.I know last year you graduated from Howard University with your Bachelors, what are your future plans?
Court: Right now I work for Meridian Health plan, but I plan on getting out of that and going back to school to obtain my Master's. I'm also a free lance photographer at the moment, I've been doing it for almost two years. What inspires you in life?
Court: To be honest my mom's legacy that she left. As you know she recently passed, and just to see the effect she had on people, to see that it was not just in the state of Michigan but all over, it has played a big impact over my life. I'm inspired to leave the same kind of legacy she has left. I want to carry on her legacy and leave an bigger impact .Any advice for the young people of our city that are trying to make it far and progress?
Court: Persistance is the biggest thing and not to be intimidated by struggle. One of my moms biggest quotes was "You have to struggle before you reach your shout". Meaning you have to go through some difficult times and those difficult times will mold you into a person that will be able to make it in life.
I can say for the clothing line me and David have (Divide and Conquer) we've encountered some struggles. From legal to getting the right material and printing. It's a constant progress of us thinking of how we can make our clothing line better, but even with the struggle each drop we've done has done well.
Just learn how to deal with struggle and obstacles, because it will mold you.
